Whamburg X Nextstar Energy
When Whamburg received the call to feed over 450 people, this local business thought no way, that is too much. Burger catering is tricky already; making sure the toppings stay crisp, buns stay fresh, and overall presentation is perfect is no small feat. But here at Whamburg, we take our smash burger catering seriously, so we stepped up to the challenge. How could we say no to feeding the people behind Windsor’s Battery plant?
The Order
This wasn’t just any large burger catering order… Nextstar Energy had requested a variety of menu items: The Wham, The Fried Chix, and The Chick. P Burg. Each item would come with one of Whamburg’s famous Brown Butter Smash Cookies. Whamburg has two locations in Windsor-Essex, so we decided to split this order between the two: Whamburg Walker would handle The Whams, and Whamburg California Ave would handle The Fried Chix and Chick P. Burgs. This would make sure that all items were as fresh as possible upon delivery.
Preparing a Huge Catering Order
At 8 o’clock in the morning on the day of the Drop Off, 10 employees showed up to work at their respective locations. The goal was to have everything packed up and ready to go by 10:30 am. The food needed to be at the location by 11:00am, so this gave the employees an extra 15 minutes in case something went wrong. We split the orders into batches of 27 and got to work. Each station had two people working: 2 on the grill, 2 prepping the buns and toppings, and 2 taking care of the finishing touches. We brought in our marketing agency to capture footage of the entire process (these are the pictures spread throughout this post!).
The Drop Off
Everything went smoothly and both teams finished preparing their orders by 10:30am. We packed our huge burger catering order into two cars, and our owner delivered them to Nextstar Energy.
Going the Extra Step
Ever so grateful for this amazing burger catering opportunity, we decided to go the extra step and customize this order. Custom Whamburg X Nextstar Energy stickers were added to each individual box and each person received a special $4 off coupon with their burger. We also included little easter eggs in the orders: we brought back our signature Bite Me branded buns for a few lucky individuals!
